Jumpstart your weekend with fun and free activities in Chinatown Park (5th and Mass).
The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) presents the Chinatown Block Party with Words Beats & Life every Friday, 5 – 8pm, from July 12 to August 16.
Every Friday evening this summer it's time to unwind after a long week and enjoy the many arts that our city has to offer. Time to relax and take in the vibrant downtown community! Words Beats and Life brings you hip-hop arts and more for your enjoyment and participation. You can:
- Scratch Records
- Create a tag or a piece of art! Choose your own Stencil!
- Join us in our new Game Zone to rule the Mega Chess Board, Giant Jenga, Giant Checkers, Connect 4, and Cornhole, Jump and Dance into Double Dutch, or badminton
- Get Colorful with Silk Screening and Tie-Dye (bring your own T-shirt/fabric if you like!)
- Or get your face painted
This year we are also adding a performance element featuring a poet, rap artists and a bank plus two DJ's every week.

This event is free and open to the public. Join us Fridays from 5 – 8pm, from July 12 through August 16!
The Chinatown Block Party is part of the Discover Chinatown Parks programming series supported jointly by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID), and the Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA).
Program partners include Words Beats & Life, Inc., the National Park Service, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation, and the DC Public Library.
