Curious City Graceland Cemetery Bike Tour

Graceland Cemetery is the burial place of many influential Chicagoans, including industrialist George Pullman, businessman Marshall Field, and architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Until this past summer, the cemetery’s 120-acre grounds were off limits to bike riders. But Curious City has been given special permission to host a bike tour of this historic cemetery. We’re partnering up with Adventure Cycling guide Tom Limon, who will help us explore the Graceland Cemetery’s history, architecture, flora, and fauna.
The inspiration behind this tour came from Curious City questioner Todd Keller, who asked the question that prompted our latest story about why some Chicago cemeteries are changing their rules about bicycles.
What happens if it rains? We will email attendees on Saturday, Nov. 4 if the tour is cancelled due to forecasted rain. If that happens, a make-up tour will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19.
Who can participate in the tour? Anyone age 12 and up who is comfortable with riding a bike can join us!
What should I bring? Bring your own bike, helmet (this is required!), and water to stay hydrated.
Where do we meet? We’ll meet at the entrance to Graceland Cemetery on the corner of Clark Street and Irving Park Road.
