ETGAR KERET
is an Israeli writer whose books have been published in more than forty languages. His short stories, rarely extending beyond three or four pages, fuse the banal with the surreal, and offer a window into a world that is both dark and comic. His books include The Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God, Missing Kissinger, The Nimrod Flipout, The Girl on the Fridge, and Suddenly a Knock on the Door, which became an instant bestseller in Israel. Hailed as the voice of young Israel, he is also a regular contributor to This American Life. The film Jellyfish which he co-directed with Shira Geffen, won the Cannes Film Festival Camera d'Or award.

The NOMADS Reading Series
is a literary caravan of sorts in the Greater Detroit area where writers, artists, and members of various immigrant communities are invited to read in their native tongue and in English as a way to tackle the deep history of segregation in Michigan. The goal is to engage, in the literary arts, largely ignored communities and present thoughtful meditations through advanced book clubs. The NOMADS series is curated by Stephanie Jean and presented by MOCAD.
