Sandy Spring Museum Fall Membership Celebration
About event
This year Sandy Spring Museum's annual meeting will be a celebration of its members! Come to meet other people who love the museum, enjoy dessert and coffee, and maybe win a great prize.
RSVP ahead of time and we will enter your name into one of three drawings - for first year members, for 2 - 9 year members and for Bentley Circle members (10 or more years.)
Special guest this evening is Bob Hines. Mr. Hines will be speaking about the latest archaeological research conducted at the Sam Riggs Farm just north of Brookeville. Constructed in 1768, the main house burned to the ground in 1970. Thanks to family descendant India Riggs, Volunteers in Archaeology have spent the last three summer excavating the house and servants' quarters. This presentation will cover some of the history of the early Riggs family, project research goals, and a description of some of the artifacts excavated, ranging from the colonial period to the early 20th century.
